My new breathing trainer arrived this week.
Yes.
Yes, itās true.
I donāt know how to breathe⦠so I bought a breathing trainer š¤·āāļø
Is that crazy or what?
Each morning, I stick this thing in my mouth and suck š
I suck air through it 30x (for 30 breaths).
I do it again in the eveningā¦
ā¦and before workouts too.
Itās all part of my commitment to staying alive.
You gotta know how to breathe, right?
Apparently it takes 3-4 weeks to see resultsā¦
ā¦so Iāll let you know in 3-4 weeks if itās working.
If Iām dead because I couldnāt figure out this breathing thing, well⦠youāll know because there wonāt be any more Daily Growls.
But if Iām alive and thriving thanks to my newfound skill with bReAtHiNg, Iāll be sure to let you know (and Iāll definitely write a few ridiculous emails about it).
Iām only half joking btw.
I DID buy a breathing trainerā¦
ā¦but itās not because I donāt know how to breathe.
I bought it because Iām currently living at high-altitude here in the mountains of Peru⦠roughly 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) above sea level šļø
At sea level, youāre swimming in oxygenā¦
ā¦but at 10,000 feet, you get 2/3 the oxygen for every breath you take⦠and this makes anything that requires breathing (which is everything) harder.
Martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Squatting and deadlifting in the gym.
Hiking.
Walking.
Even sleeping.
It takes longer to recover from physical exertion, whether itās catching my breath after rolling with Mr Desert or sleeping after a heavy set of deadlifts.
The immune system takes a hit and skin dries out⦠and when it cracks, it takes 10x longer to heal.
I could go on but you get the ideaā¦
Living at high altitude is hard on the body š©
Thatās why I bought the breathing trainer.
Itās a little device that makes breathing harder.
Like I said, you stick it in your mouth and do a set of 30 breaths.
Thanks to the resistance, you have to flex your breathing muscles (your diaphragm) more than you usually would, which makes the muscles grow stronger, improving your breathing capacity and ability to take in oxygen.
In a nutshellā¦
Itās an adjustable dumbbell for your breathing muscles.
Pretty cool, right?
I only started using it 2 days ago so I canāt tell you if itās made a difference⦠but Iām hoping that it makes it easier and more comfortable living here because I have no plans to leave anytime soon.
Just like a breathing trainer for your breathing muscles, The Rageheart Academy is a nervous system trainer for your nervous system survival response šļøāāļø
By implementing the techniques inside The Rageheart Academy and integrating them into your day-to-day life (like Iām doing with the breathing trainer), your nervous system gets stronger, more resilient and robust.
Negative thoughts start sliding off you like water off a duckās back.
Uncomfortable feelings become far more manageable.
Life gets easier (for the most part) and more fulfilling and rewarding.
Anyway, thereās lots more (as you know) but Iāll leave it there for today.
If you want to train your nervous system to handle greater loads without flinching, the next step is to hit The Rageheart Academy gym:
Cheers,
John Wood
P.S. Know anyone who needs to beef up their nervous system with some beastly instincts and abilities?
Refer them to The Daily Growl (this email newsletter) and give them better tools for handling stress, anxiety and dick head trolls on social media.
