Stuck

John Wood, Founder of Rageheart

The fight or flight response is an amazing thing.

It keeps us safe in so many ways.

A threat appears and we either run away to safety and fight the threat off.

However, it’s meant to be short-lived.

We meant to go into it and then back out of it.

We’re not meant to get stuck there.

For example, here’s what it looks like if we get stuck in fight or flight:

Anxious.

Angry.

Fidgety.

Constant feeling of danger, unease and threat.

In other words, we don’t feel safe.

That makes it hard to focus.

Hard to get things done.

Our system is busy scanning our environment for threats so there’s no way it’ll let us settle down and focus on our work.

Sound familiar?

That’s procrastination in a nutshell.

We’ll be hypersensitive.

Prone to getting triggered.

We’ll probably find it hard to fall-asleep AND hard to stay asleep.

It’ll be hard to relax and “come down”.

Because hey, sleeping and relaxing is something that happens when we feel safe.

If our system thinks danger is nearby, it literally won’t let us relax.

There’ll simply be too much energy running through our system… and it will NOT feel comfortable.

See what I mean?

The nervous system model explains so much.

It accounts for so many of the different problems and symptoms we all deal with.

This means that the problem isn’t feeling nervous, or procrastination, or not being able to sleep.

The problem is that the nervous system is stuck in fight or flight.

It’s stuck in ON mode.

Stuck feeling unsafe.

And until we address THAT, our symptoms will continue.

That’s where Rageheart comes in.

It shows you how to work directly with your with your stuck fight or flight response.

You get tools for getting yourself out of it.

Techniques for restoring safety and regulation to the system.

Since we’re literally working directly with fear, anger and a range of emotional states, it’s not for the faint of heart.

However in my experience…

It’s one of the most fulfilling and rewarding things we can do for ourselves – because unlike so many “self help” solutions, this one actually works.

Anyway…

If you want to try it out, sign up for Rageheart here: https://www.rageheart.co/app/

It might say closed… in which case, enjoy the pun on the /closed/ page.

Stay tuned though – because it’ll open again soon.

If you’re already a member and you’re getting the good feels, hit the “Sign In” link and do another rage.

Tomorrow, we’ll take a look at the freeze function of the nervous system… because it also leads to a lot of the problems that are so common these days.

Until then,

John Wood
