I’ve got a thing going live this week on another website and one of the people there got the wrong idea about Rageheart 🤦♂️
If you’ve been reading my emails, you know I like to poke fun at other techniques for being happier, less anxious and more fulfilled.
- gratitude lists
I even say that all these things are “glorified bandaids for the mind” on the Rageheart homepage.
I thought I was pretty clear that the “bandaids” thing was a metaphor… but when I got on the phone with someone from this company I’m doing something with, she asked me:
”So you sell special bandaids, right?”
I thought she was talking about the bandaids metaphor… but as we spoke, I realised she thought I sold real bandaids for, you know, your skin 🤣
So today, I just want to clear this up:
Rageheart does not sell bandaids for your skin 🤕
The bandaids thing is ONLY a metaphor and YOU WILL NOT get a surprise package of bandaids in the mail when you sign up to the Rageheart Academy 😭
The bandaids thing is only a reference to my story.
I used all the usual stuff – meditation, journaling, etc – but while it helped, it didn’t really get to the root issue of why I was unhappy and unfulfilled.
Hence: BANDAIDS 🩹
AKA: Good for small cuts and scrapes but not for cancer.
If you’re sick of feeling anxious or depressed, bandaids aren’t going to cut it. You need something deeper and more powerful.
That’s why it’s important to work directly with your nervous system and fight-or-flight response. Because it’s the little-known root of anxiety, depression and so much more 🧠
You could think of anxiety as a malfunctioning of the fight-or-flight response. You’re stuck in high-energy mode, prepared to attack someone or run away at the drop of a hat, even with no obvious threat present. As a result, it’s hard to stop thinking. Hard to sleep. Hard to relax.
And depression? Consider it a malfunctioning of the freeze response. You’re stuck in low-energy conservation mode. No energy. No motivation. No feeling. You might not even feel alive, just like when gazelles play dead before they bounce up and run away from the cheetah who just caught them.
Bandaids won’t cut it here.
Only nervous system (fight-or-flight) work will.
Here’s how to do that:
P.S. Know anyone else who struggles with anxiety and depression despite meditating and journaling and gratitude listing and who knows what else?
Refer them to the Rageheart Daily Rage (this newsletter) and help them replace the bandaids with something that attacks the root problem:
